Tamil Editor questioned for 8 hours
N. Vidhyatharan, editor Tamil daily Sudaroli was questioned by by CCB (a government intelligence unit) officers regarding news stories published related to civilian casualties in on going war in Vanni.
Officers who came to newspaper office on 16th Feb 2009 questioned him for nearly 8 hours from 8.30am to 4.00pm. Sudaroli is published by Uthayan news paper group, which publish Tamil daily Uthayan in Jaffna.
According to Mr. Vidyatharan nine of their staff has been killed during the last 3 years.
Mr. Vidyatharan him self has received numerous threats in recent past. Sudaroli and Uthayan are both considered as pro militant news papers by the establishment.
