Commissioner of Elections to meet media heads

Commissioner of elections Dayananda Dishanayake has decided to have discussions with all heads of media institution regarding unbiased reporting during the Western PC election campaign.
The Commissioner has taken this decision to meet heads of media institutions after the discussion he held with secretaries of political parties where secretaries requested that media institutions should carry out balance reporting on the campaign.
The Commissioner of Elections has agreed to convene heads of electronic and print media of state and private sector media institutions and make available to them a document on reporting of news regarding the campaign.
Secretary General of UPFA Susil Premajayanthe, Secretary General of the UNP Tissa Attanayake, General Secretary of the JVP Tilvin Silva and several other representatives of political parties and senior officers of the Department of Elections participated in the discussion
