Sathyagraha Campaign a Huge Success

(Lanka-e-News, 10.June.2009, 11.00PM) A protest campaign against the attack on Poddala Jayantha, the secretary of the Working Journalists’ Association organized by the collective of media organizations was held before the Colombo Municipal Council roundabout this evening (10).

Around 1000 representatives of various media organizations and political parties took part in the campaign with gagged mouths to protest the media suppression and held a rally in the Jayawardhana center after a brief march.

The opposition politicians, trade union representatives, media organization office bearers and the media persons that participated in the protest urged the government to stop all threats and intimidations against media and to restore democratic environment.
