Mobs attack private electronic media institution
Jul 30, 2010 11:07 AM · The Colombo office of private electronic media institution that operates popular Siyatha TV and Radio has been attacked by mobs, police said.
Around 15 masked men stormed the Union Place studios of Voice of Asia Network in the early hours of this morning (July 30).
The assailants had assaulted two of the staff members and thrown petrol bombs at the studios, said the police.
The ground floor of the building has caught fire following the bomb attack, and several computers have been destroyed in the blaze.
Firefighters later brought the fire under control.
According to DIG Colombo H.M.D. Herath, three police teams are investigating the incident.
