September 15, 2010: ‘The Economist’ magazine has been held back at the Customs, says its distributor in Sri Lanka.
Vijitha Yapa, the local distributor for the magazine, said that no specific reason had been provided for the Custom’s action.
“This is the second time ‘The Economist’ magazine was held back by the Customs Department,” said Yapa.
When Newsfirst contacted Keheliya Rambukwella, the Minister of Mass Media and Communication on the issue, he said that he was not aware of the matter.
Rambukwella, however, said that he could look into the development.
