A group of men has forcibly removed certain documents and a car from the office of JVP-affiliated ‘Lanka’ newspaper this afternoon (Sept. 22), according to its publisher, Lanka Fast Publishers Pvt. Ltd.
Director of the publishing firm, Lal Tennakoon has lodged a complaint with Mirihana Police, and two suspects have been arrested so far.
According to reports, following the internal crisis of the JVP, directors of the newspaper are supporting the party leadership, while a majority of its editorial, including editor Chandana Sirimalwatte, is backing the Premakumar Gunarathnam faction.
The Premakumar faction has appointed Pubudu Jagoda as the authority for the newspaper.
