Ravaya News website banned .

The Ravaya News website, which was launched by a group of Sri Lankans currently residing in Europe after fleeing the country for their safety, has been blocked in Sri Lanka from January 31st.

Editor of the Ravaya newspaper, Victor Ivan has complained that the website had carried stories published in the Ravaya newspaper without receiving any prior approval.

Six websites including Ravaya News have been blocked within Sri Lanka. The websites are Lankaenews, Lankanewsweb, Lankawaynews, Lankaguardian, Tamilnet and Paparazzinews.

Although the government has blocked the websites in Sri Lanka, these websites have become very popular in the country’s political circles due to the government’s action to block them.
