The Supreme Court today (25) warned and discharged the Editor of the Lanka Irida newspaper, Chandana Sirimalwatte from the alleged contempt of court charges and ordered him to publish a correction on a news item which appeared in the newspaper in June this year.
Filing fundamental objections when the case filed against editor of Lanka Irida Chandana Sirimalwatta for insulting the Judiciary came before Court, Mr. Saliya Peiris, the counselor for Mr. Sirimalwatta, stated that the Supreme Court had no jurisdiction to hear the case.

The premises at Delkanda, Nugegoda, of the Lanka newspaper published by the JVP was sealed off by a group of officers from the CID yesterday. The editor, Chandana Sirimalwatha, who has been arrested previously and is still in detention, was brought to the premises and the sealing off took place in his presence. All the employees were told to take any of their personal belongings and then forced to leave the premises.
