200 days since Prageeth Eknaligoda Disappeared,

Silent protest and seminar to force the government to find Prageeth ! Tuesday 10th August 2010

A silent protest (sathyagraha) and seminar aimed at forcing the authorities to find disappeared Cartoonist and Columnist Prageeth Eknaligoda will be held on August 10, 2010. The protest will be held at 3.00 p.m. in the Viharamahadevi Park (In front of Town Hall) followed by Seminar which will be held at 4.00 p.m. in the Public Library’s Auditorium.

Alliance of Media organizations urges the media personnel, activists, trade unionists, civil society organizations, political parties and citizens who stand for media freedom, democracy and human rights to join in these efforts to find Prageeth.

This protest and seminar to marks 200 days since the disappearance of Prageeth Eknaligoda is organized by the Alliance of Media Organizations, comprising the Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association (SLWJA), Free Media Movement (FMM), South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA), Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum (SLMMF), Sri LankaTamil Journalists Association (SLTJA), Journalists Against Suppression (JAS), Federation of Media Employees Trade Union (FMETU).
