Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa yesterday expressed regret over the unruly behaviour of some MPs in the House.
He sought the co-operation of all MPs to maintain the dignity and decorum of the House and asked them to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner.
Tension and chaos prevailed in parliament on Thursday when a group of government MPs led by Chief Government Whip Dinesh Gunawardena attempted to manhandle United National Party (UNP) front-liner Jayalath Jayawrdena alleging that he instigated pro-LTTE activists to protest President Rajapaksa’s visit to Britain.
Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa almost struck Dr. Jayawardena during the scuffle.
