Statement of support for WikiLeaks from Australian media editors and directors

Australia’s most senior media professionals – including editors of major newspapers
and news websites, the news directors of the country’s three commercial TV
networks and two public broadcasters – have written to Prime Minister Julia Gillard
to express their support for WikiLeaks.

Tamil journalist attacked in Batticaloa

An unidentified three person gang attacked a Tamil journalist Manikkapody Sasikumar, 35, in Batticaloa district, Sunday night around 7.30 p.m., causing severe injuries on his hands and head, according to reports reaching Colombo media. Sasikumar was admitted to the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Former CJ on human rights situation in Sri Lanka

Former Chief Justice Sarath N. de Silva spoke on 10-12-2010 regarding the present human rights situation in Sri Lanka. He did so delivering the keynote address at the ceremony organized by ‘Intellectuals for Human Rights’ at the B.M.I.C.H. to commemorate the International Human Rights Day.
