President Mahinda Rajapaksa has reportedly reprimanded the Editor of the Lankadeepa newspaper, veteran journalist Siri Ranasinghe for giving publicity to a story with comments made by Sarath Fonseka where he has claimed that the Army commander who was instrumental in bringing peace to the country is being given step motherly treatment when the second anniversary of the war victory was being celebrated.
The President had pointed out that there was conspiracy to publish a story with excerpts of statements made by Fonseka when the country was celebrating the second anniversary of the war victory. “How can I go for soldiers’ parades
when you people publish such stories? I know who is doing this and I will take care of it later,” the President had said in an angry tone, a senior journalist of the newspaper said.
