Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa says he will summon the editor of state-run ‘Dinamina’ for questioning over an article which implies that chief justice Shirani Bandaranayake had admitted to the allegations contained in the impeachment motion against her.
In response to a question raised by chief opposition whip John Amaratunga, the speaker said the publication of such a report was against parliamentary standing orders.
Mr. Amaratunga said the media minister should answer, as there was suspicion such reports were being published even before the commencement of the PSC proceedings in order to place the CJ into difficulties.
Chief government whip Dinesh Gunawardena said any complaint regarding the impeachment could be referred to the PSC.
