Fonseka’s Media Secretary arrested

Mr Sanjeewa Amarasinghe, the Media Secretary of the Leader of the National Alliance, Mr. Sarath Fonseka, was taken in to custody by the CID on Tuesday27). A person said to be Inspector of Police, Mr. E. Amarasinghe of the CID had gone to the Media Secretary’s house in Ragama and had taken him into custody, his lawyer Shrilal Lankatilaka told the ‘Mirror’.

hen Mr. Lankatilaka queried from the officer, he had replied that he was being taken to the CID to record a statement.

Mr. Lankatilaka said that the CID has been interrogating Mr. Amarasinghe whether he had been supplying news to the e-news website as well as regarding the computers he was using to ascertain whether they had been utilized for writing articles that there had been war crimes committed in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Sanjeewa Amarasinghe had for many years worked at Lake House as a journalist as well as he head of the UNP Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya trade union.

Mr. Amarasinghe had subsequently resigned from Lake house and had been engaged as a media coordinator for Deputy Leader of the UNP. Mr. Sajith Premadasa.
